About me

Welcome to my personal website!

My name is Arjan van Dalfsen, and I am currently a PhD candidate at Utrecht University. My research focuses on utilizing AI technology to study historical Dutch attitudes towards plants and animals. By exploring old texts with the latest techniques, I aim to understand how these perceptions have evolved over time and how they have influenced contemporary views on nature. You can read more about it in this interview (Dutch version here).

As a result of both research and personal interests, I often experiment with new generative AI models to build creative projects. I recently set up this website, so it is likely to undergo some changes in the near future.

Here’s what you can find on my website:

  • Blog: Currently emtpy, but I plan to post reflections on my research and generative AI in general.
  • Publications: A list of my writings and publications. It meant to give you an idea, not to be comprehensive.
  • Contact: This page contains a link to my employer’s contact page where you can find all the information you need to reach me.
  • Tafeltennis: This is a fun project unrelated to my research but deeply intertwined with my job. I built it to allow my colleagues and me to keep track of our table tennis matches during lunch break.

Feel free to explore my site to learn more about my research, read my blog, or get in touch with me.
